The members of the Grafton Camera Club with their partners and friends, attended their annual photocamp at Coombadjha on the weekend of 12/13th August. The winter weather was fantastic, with some of the members braving the winder coolness to camp on the banks of the Mann River, while others enjoyed the limited accommodation available in the house and lodge.

Our sincere thanks go to our host Graham Mackie, artist / photographer, who set up some challenges for the members to try out something new with their photography using the ‘bulb’ setting on their camera. This resulted in some interesting ‘movement’ shots in the late Saturday afternoon light, then drinks and nibbles in Graham’s studio, where the members were able to view Graham’s impressive art works and images, and also his collection of old camera on display, which took everyone on a trip down photographic memory lane. This was followed by a beautiful camp oven dinner around the fire, prepared by the camera club members, ending the evening with some portrait photography by torchlight.

Sunday dawned with a huge fog and very light frost for those brave enough to rise early to experience it. This was followed by some more landscape photography on the banks of the Mann River.

All in all it was a great weekend of friendship, learning and copious amounts of laughter. We are all looking forward to it again next year.
