Run and Won ...

Well all that's left in the annex at the Grafton Showground Barn Pavillion is a few crumbs from the displays for the mice to stash. The photography section has been run and won - something that is not possible without the help from our members.

The weekend before the show, the camera club is there to take the remaining entries, mat ALL submitted entries and catalog them for judging.

The judging happens on the Sunday of that weekend before the show - there are 3 judges who each give a score out of 5 which are tallied up to give an overall score for each image.

After the judging is complete the entries are then all hung on the walls ready for the show the following weekend. This year there were about 140 entries - the feedback was that the quality of images was again very good. The judges decided that the Champion image was a monochrome in both Senior and Junior categories.

It was great to see plenty of junior entries as they are the photographers of tomorrow. Next year we will be offering extra categories specifically for younger juniors following feedback received during the show.

There were certainly plenty of people stopping and looking at the photos this year and as always it looks great once they are all hung on the wall.

As soon as the show closes at 9pm on the Saturday - again the camera club helpers were there to take the images down and un-mat them - ready for collection first thing Sunday morning.

Big thanks to Michelle Thornton (CC President) who has been there all day (and night when required) for 2 whole weekends - a round of applause please :-)

Several of our members won first and second place ribbons in their respective categories along with a few highly commmendeds - which is great. The overall senior champion also went to one of our members for her monochrome print.

And so the Grafton Show is all done .... until next year :-)
